Danish NGO condemns terrorist attack on Saharawi refugee camps

 Copenhagen (Denmark), October 26, 2011 – Afrika Kontakt – Western Sahara group strongly condemns  the terrorist attack on the Saharawi refugee, on last week-end that resulted in the kidnapping of three European  international aid workers and the injury of two, the Spanish hostage, Enric Gonyalons and a Saharawi security guard.

 

The hostages are two Spanish nationals Fernandez Coin Aino, member of the Association of Friendship with the Saharawi people in Extremadura (Spain), Enrico Gonyalons, from Mundubat NGO, and Rossella Urru from Italy, member of the Italian NGO CISP.

 

Afrika Kontakt expresses strong solidarity with the hostages families and with the Saharawi people and demands the immediate release of the kidnapped Aid Workers without being harmed.

 

In this first terrorist attack in 36 years in the Saharawi Refugee Camps against foreigners, Afrika kontakt, while demanding greatest vigour condemnation of this inhuman terrorist act, we reaffirm our organisation firm stand for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

 

In a statement issued by the Saharawi Authorities, it said "the attackers came from the direction of neighbouring Mali in four-wheel drive vehicles and left to where they came from," the Organization recalled in its statement. (SPS)
