Shaheed Al Hafed (Saharawi refugee camps), Oct 23, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi authorities have reinforced security around the central reception of the foreign aid workers in the Saharawi refugee camps, following the kidnapping by terrorists of two Spaniards and an Italian working in the humanitarian field in the Camps.

In a press statement, Ms. Bárbara Magdalena, cooperator of the Movement for Peace (MPDL), condemned this crime and emphasized that although she is concerned for fate of her seized friends “the current situation is full of calm and security.”

The Saharawi government has previously mentioned that one of the hostages and a Sahrawi security guard were wounded in fire exchange during the attack, according to a statement of the Ministry of Information.

It also underlined “the terrorists infiltrated from the borders of neighboring Malian to attack foreigners’ reception center in the Saharawi refugee camps, west of Tindouf, using four-wheel drive vehicles and arms before returning back from where they came.”

“Sahrawi authorities, which strongly condemn this criminal act, have taken necessary actions to pursue the kidnappers,” it confirmed. (SPS)
