UK encourages parties to engage with UN for solution enabling self-determination of Saharawi people (Hague)

Rabat, October 19, 2011 (SPS) - The United Kingdom encourages the parties to the conflict of Western Sahara (Morocco and Polisario Front) to engage in the United Nations effort to reach a mutually acceptable political solution, allowing the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara,  affirmed Monday in Rabat the British Foreign Minister, Mr. William Hague.

 

Speaking at a news conference in the Moroccan capital, Mr. Hague indicated that the Arab Spring uprisings had increased the importance of resolving the long dispute over the status of Western Sahara, stressing the "negative impact" of this conflict in the region.

 

The British Foreign Secretary, Mr. William Hague, arrived Monday in Morocco on a visit to this country, it should be recalled. (SPS)
