Arrest of Sahrawi student Hussein Al Ber by Moroccan security forces in Tantan

Tantan (South Morocco), August 2, 2011(SPS) - Moroccan police agents arrested Monday Sahrawi student Hussein Al Ber in the check point northeast of Tantan city in southern Morocco, according to Statement of Sahrawi Collective Defenders of Human rights (CODESA).

His father, Mailid Jamaa Al Ber, confirmed in a statement that his son, who was travelling with him from Gulemine city in southern Morocco, arrested  immediately after demanding his identification card without giving the reason for the arrest and charges against him.by the police agents who arrested him.

It is apparent so far that his arrest was under the pretext of asearch warrantissuedagainst him since August 14, 2008by the Attorney General in the Court of Appeal in Marrakech city on the background of the peaceful demonstrations of the Sahrawi students in the Universityof Cadi Ayyaddemanding the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

It is worth mentioning that Sahrawi student Hussein Al Ber, born in 1983 in Tantan city, southern Morocco, licensed in Political Science in the Faculty of Legal, Social, and Economic sciences in the University of Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech and still pursues his higher education in the division of tax system in the Faculty of Legal, Social, and Economic sciences in Settat city, Morocco.
