Paris, July 24, 2011 (SPS) - The French government announced Saturday that obstructing the talks to find a solution for the Western Sahara cause “does not benefit anyone”, confirming its continuation to support the negotiation for reaching to a solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, French Press Service (AFP) reported.
In a statement issued after the end of the 8th Polisario Front-Morocco informal meeting, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed support to the ongoing negotiations, praising the move by UN Special Envoy Christopher Ross to find a durable, realistic and mutually acceptable political solution in accordance with the UN resolution 1979.”
The statement underlined that the dialogue and negotiation process will continue, where the two parties (Polisario Front and Morocco) affirmed their participation in the meeting with UNHCR to be held on September to discuss the issue of the refugees.
The eighth round of informal negotiations between the Frente Polisario and Morocco concluded Thursday in Manhasset by agreeing to continue negotiations after 66th session of the UN General Assembly on September. (SPS)
