Luxembourg June 21, 2011 (SPS) - Algeria reiterated Monday in Luxembourg its support for a settlement of Western Sahara conflict in line with international legality.

"Concerning the conflict in Western Sahara, Algeria reaffirms support for a settlement in line with the international legality, which enshrines Saharawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination," Algeria stressed in a statement at the sixth session of the Algerian-European Association Council, held June 19-20 in Luxemburg.

Algeria expressed its satisfaction at the firm stand of the Security Council on this issue and full support to the efforts of Ambassador Christopher Ross, personal representative of the UN Secretary-General.

On the other hand, EU expressed in its statement presented during this meeting its “support for the efforts of the UN Secretary General to reach a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara."  (SPS)
