Paris, June 12, 2011 (SPS) - French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alain Juppe, will visit Algeria on Wednesday for a 24-hour visit during which he will hold talks with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, announced on Friday Bernard Valero, spokesman for the Quai d'Orsay.
This is the first visit of a head of French diplomacy in Algeria since that made by Bernard Kouchner in May 2008.
Wednesday evening, Alain Juppe will have a working meeting with his counterpart Mourad Medelci and will meet Thursday President Bouteflika and Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, said Valero during a news briefing.
"It's an important visit between two partner countries for so long, between two actors in the South and North of the Mediterranean, and also important because we have with our Algerian partners a long series of political and diplomatic issues to be addressed", he said.
