Minister of Cooperation concludes working visit to Austria

Vienna (Austria) May 29, 2011 (SPS) - The Minister of Cooperation, Mr. Salek Baba Hasana, concluded Saturday a three-day working visit to the Republic of Austria, where he met Swiss officials, parliamentarians, NGOs and representatives of the civil society, according to the Polisario Representation in Austria.

During his visit, Mr. Salek Baba Hasana was received at the Swiss Parliament headquarters by its President, Mrs. Barbara Prammer, where he spoke about the latest political developments of the Saharawi cause, humanitarian situation of the Saharawi refugees and human rights in the occupied part of Western Sahara.

Mrs. Prammer affirmed to the Saharawi Minister determination to continue supporting the just struggle of the Saharawi people for self-determination and freedom.

Minister of Cooperation was also received at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Agency of Austria.

He appreciated the Austrian government’s support to the Saharawi refugees since 1980’s and its standing, during its membership in the UN Security Council, with the extension of MINURSO’s mandate in Western Sahara to include protection of human rights.

He also recalled to the necessity to take a position consistent with the spirit and ethics of the Austrian policy in regard to the fishing agreement between Morocco and EU, urging to continue support the Saharawi refugees.

The Minister was accompanied by the Representative of the Polisario Front in Austria, Najat Handi Dan. (SPS)
