Algiers, April 28, 2011 (SPS)-The Vice-President of Rhône-Alpes Regional Council and member of the French Socialist Party Farida Boudaoud, said Wednesday in Algiers that the visit by French officials recently in the Saharawi refugee camps served to "break the wall of silence".
"Elected officials and representatives of French civil society have witnessed violation of human rights in Western Sahara," Boudaoud said during a meeting with President of the Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi people (CNASPS), followed by a press conference.
She said she is "optimistic for the Saharawi people" after the open letter sent last Tuesday by the delegation of French officials who stayed in refugee camps, to French president Nicolas Sarkozy, on the violation of human rights in Western Sahara. (SPS)
