British international runner visits Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El Hafed, March 11, 2024 (SPS) - British international runner Mr. Russ Cook arrived at the Sahrawi refugee camps to witness the situation of the Sahrawi people and their just cause.

The British runner was received by a delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by the Director-General of Sports, Mr. Said Ahmed Tahlil. He received an official reception in the Wilaya of Awserd and gave the starting signal for the final of the inter-middle schools cup.

Minister of Public Health receives Italian medical mission

Shaheed El Hafed, March 11, 2024 (SPS) - Minister of Public Health, Mr. Salek Baba Hassena, received Sunday an Italian medical mission representing several Italian associations in solidarity with the Sahrawi people.

The medical mission handed over to the Ministry of Public Health some necessary medical equipment to enhance the development and performance of medical services.

Geneva, 10 March 2024 (SPS) - The Polisario Front representative to Switzerland, the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abi Bushraya Bashir, affirmed that the displacement of Sahrawi people in several areas in the occupied territories of Western Sahara "comes in the context of the continuation of the Moroccan occupation of its settlement policy and the illegal exploitation of the resources of the Sahrawi people."

 This took place during the celebration of the double anniversary of Women's Day and the Fall of the First Martyr, which was organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Women's Advancement.

Sahrawi Republic participates in 13th African Games, meeting of African Ministers of Youth and Sports in held in Ghana

Accra (Ghana), March 09, 2024 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic is participating in the 13th African Games which are being held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, from March 08 to 23.

The opening ceremony, which was attended by about 50 African countries, was attended by the Ghanaian authorities, and a meeting of African Ministers of Youth and Sports was also organized on the sidelines of the event.

Sahrawi prisoners begin hunger strike to protest their conditions

Ait Melloul (Morocco), 8 March 2024 (SPS) - Sahrawi civilian prisoners from the "Akdim Izik" group, who are being held in Ait Melloul 2 prison on the outskirts of the southern Moroccan city of Agadir, will be holding a warning hunger strike on Thursday and Friday of next week. They are protesting the racist practices and violations imposed by the prison administration.

International Women's Day: Sahrawi Committee for Human Rights acknowledges sacrifices of Sahrawi women

Shaheed Al Hafed, 8 March 2024 (SPS) -  The National Sahrawi Committee for Human Rights commended on Friday the contributions and sacrifices of Sahrawi women, praising their prominent role in the liberation struggle against the Moroccan occupation.

In a statement issued on the occasion of International Women's Day, the committee emphasized that Sahrawi women have made exceptional contributions to both the struggle for liberation and nation-building, working tirelessly in various aspects of the struggle and fight.

President Brahim Ghali receives delegation from European Parliament

Awsard, March 4, 2024 (SPS) - President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, received on Sunday a delegation from the European Parliament, which led a working and solidarity visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps.

During the meeting held in wilaya of Awsard, the delegation was briefed on the developments of the Sahrawi issue, especially after Morocco's violation of the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020, and the region's return to war and direct confrontation with the Moroccan occupation on all fronts.

Geneva group for Western Sahara calls for independent human rights monitoring mechanism

Geneva, 4 March 2024 (SPS) - The Geneva Group for Western Sahara has renewed its urgent call to the United Nations to establish an independent mechanism to monitor the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara. This comes in light of Morocco's unjustified and unacceptable refusal to allow technical missions from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for the ninth consecutive year.

Bir Lehlou (Liberated Territories), March 2, 2024 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) targeted an enemy base of the occupation army in the Mahbes sector, causing heavy losses in lives and equipment.

A military communiqué issued today, Saturday, by the political commissariat of the SPLA, stated that as part of the liberation war waged by the Sahrawi fighters, detachments of our army carried out a concentrated bombardment targeting an enemy base of the occupation soldiers in the Laakad region of the Mahbes sector.

President of Republic receives winners of Sahara Marathon
