Shaheed El-Hafed, Sept 18, 2017 (SPS) - The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has welcomed the appointment of Mr. Horst Köhler as a Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General in Western Sahara, expressing the willingness of the Polisario Front to cooperate with him for the success of his mission.

New York, Sep 17, 2017 (SPS) -A delegation of the Polisario Front, led by the Sahrawi coordinator with the MINURSO Mhamed Khdead held talks Thursday in New York with the United Nations Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler. 
The talks, attended by Representative of the Polisario Front at the UN Ahmed Boukhari, allowed an exchange of viewpoints and information on the UN process in Western Sahara.

Al-Arjat Prison (Morocco), Sep 16, 2017 (SPS) - The Moroccan forces on Saturday carried out the abusive transfer of Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik from Al-Arjat prison to other Moroccan prisons, according to a Saharawi media source.
The families of the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group confirmed that Al-Arjat prison guards attacked the prisoners' cells and forcibly transferred them to other prisons.

Awserd (refugee camps), Sept 16, 2017 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, Brahim Ghali, honored Saturday the baccalaureate holders for the academic year 2016-2017.
The ceremony took place in the presence of members of the National Secretariat, Government, National Council, and education sector authorities.
The President of the Republic congratulated the baccalaureate students, and underlined the efforts made and the importance given to education by the Sahrawi government.

Geneva / Switzerland, Sept 14, 2017 / SPS) - International climate and human rights activist Catherine Constantinides confirmed in a statement to the national media her solidarity and support for the Saharawi people and their just struggle for the right to self-determination and freedom. 
 
The South African activist considered the suffering of the Saharawi people for four decades to be similar to that of the South African people during colonialism and racial rule.
 

Geneva (Switzerland), Sept 13, 2017 (SPS) -  A group of ambassadors and international law experts stressed Wednesday the importance of implementing the decisions of the UN General Assembly, especially those relating to Western Sahara people's right to self-determination and sovereignty over their own natural resources, media reported.
 
The conference, entitled "The Question of Western Sahara, the Last Colony in Africa," was held Wednesday on the sidelines of the 36th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Buenos Aires, Sept 13, 2017 (SPS) - The Primary Institutions of the  Arab Argentine Entities Confederation have expressed, in a statement, their solidarity with the ambassador Jadiyetu El Mohtar, and their condemnation for the unjust measure aimed at deportation of the Saharawi militant.

Paris (France), Sept 13,2017 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People in France, Nicole Gasnier, considers that the retention of Saharawi ambassador Jadiyetu El Mojtar at the airport of the Peruvian capital Lima, a contradictory attitude to the practices that a democratic country should have, as well as the agreements that govern diplomatic work.

Lima, Sept. 12, 2017 (SPS) - The Peruvian Council for Solidarity with the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (COPERERASD) denounced Sunday the arbitrary detention by the immigration authorities in Peru of the Sahrawi ambassador to Latin America, Khadijetou El Mokhtar, according to a statement released on Sunday, a copy of which was received by SPS.

Lima (Peru), Sept 11, 2017 (SPS) – The Peruvian Socialist Party has called for allowing Sahrawi ambassador to Latin America, Khadijetu Kina, to carry on her mission in Peru.
We demand that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that of Interior respect the UN resolutions, revoke the measure and apologize so that the Ambassador can carry out activities on behalf of her people in Peru, said the leadership of the Peruvian Socialist Party in a statement.

Shaheed El-Hafed, Sept 11, 2017 (SPS) - Unknown parties were behind the detention at the Lima airport of the Sahrawi ambassador to Latin America, Khadijetou El Mokhtar, according to Sahrawi diplomatic sources.
According to the same sources, the Saharawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in direct contact with the Peruvian authorities on several levels to enable the ambassador for Latin America, Khadijetou El Mokhtar, to carry out her functions.

Algiers, Sept 11, 2017 (SPS) - The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF-Algeria) will provide the Sahrawi refugee children with school stationary for the school year 2017-2018, announced Sunday the UNICEF office.
“UNICEF Algeria supports the new school year of the Sahrawi refugee children as part of its humanitarian response to the children living in the camps of the Sahrawi refugees in Tindouf, the office of UNICEF has provided continuous assistance for years to the sector of education and health (for refugees),” said the Fund in a communiqué.

Shaheed El-Hafed (Refugee Camps), Sept 10, 2017 (SPS) - The school year for 2017-2018 has begun in all schools in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The Ministry of Education officially announced on Sunday, the start of the school year 2017-2018 in the Sahrawi refugee camps and the liberated territories of the Saharawi Republic.

El-Aaiun (Occupied Territories), September 10, 2017 (SPS) - Moroccan forces intervened, violently on Saturday in the occupied city of El-Aaiun, against peaceful Sahrawi protestors, mostly unemployed, who were demonstrating to demand their legitimate rights and condemn the grave depletion of the wealth of the Sahrawi people.
The violent intervention resulted in many injuries among the demonstrators.

Windhoek — President Hage Geingob has reminded the world that the protracted Western Sahara issue still needs sorting out.
Namibia has on many occasions undertaken not to tire in its quest to see Morocco, which was recently re-admitted into the African Union (AU), give up its illegal occupation of Western Sahara.
Geingob made the call in Windhoek yesterday when he addressed a conference of the African-European party dialogue of socialists and democrats, aimed at overcoming inequality as a political challenge.
