Boujedour (refugee camps), 5 January 2025 (SPS) - The International Conference of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People began on Sunday in the wilaya of Boujedour, attended by several political activists, environmental researchers, and human rights defenders from various countries around the world.
The conference, chaired by two Swedish activists in solidarity with the Sahrawi cause, Benjamin Ladra and Sanae Kotbi Rahal, was inaugurated by Hasenitou Mohamed Chblel, a member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Minister of Youth and Sports, alongside Boujedour's governor, Eddih Mohamed Chedad, and in the presence of members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the Sahrawi government, and the Sahrawi National Council.
At the start of the conference, the governor of Boujedour delivered a speech welcoming the supportive participants, emphasizing "the importance of such conferences to advocate for the Sahrawi cause."
For his part, the Sahrawi Minister of Youth and Sports praised the efforts of Swedish cyclists to organize this conference, which reflects the existence of a strong global awareness working to defend human rights and the rights of peoples to freedom and emancipation.
Swedish activist Sanae Kotbi Rahal expressed her gratitude to all participating delegations that responded to the call and joined the caravan of solidarity with the Sahrawi people.
It is worth noting that this international conference of solidarity with the Sahrawi people will last for three (3) days, bringing together human rights defenders in support of the Sahrawi cause from Algeria, Palestine, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Japan, Italy, Colombia, Croatia, Chile, the United States, and Portugal.
Swedish activists Benjamin Ladra and Sanae Kotbi Rahal arrived on December 24 at the Sahrawi refugee camp in Boujedour, marking the end of their solidarity bike tour with the Sahrawi people.
