Mexican Senate commemorates 45th anniversary of bilateral relations between Mexico and Sahrawi Republic in presence of President of Sahrawi National Council

Mexico City (Mexico), October 25, 2024 (SPS) - The Mexican Senate organized a special session Thursday  to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Mexico and the Sahrawi Republic. The session was chaired by Gerardo Fernández Noroña, the President of the Mexican Senate, and was attended by Hamma Salama, the President of the Sahrawi National Council, and the Sahrawi ambassador to Mexico, Mokhtar Labihi.

The President of the Mexican Senate welcomed his Sahrawi guest, reiterating the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries and expressing Mexico’s unwavering solidarity with the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.

In his speech before the senators and parliamentarians, Hamma Salama emphasized the Sahrawi Republic’s determination to strengthen the relationships of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples.

Moreover, Hamma Salama affirmed the justness of the Sahrawi cause, pointing out the Sahrawi leadership’s commitment to defending the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence, and their rejection of all unlawful and unimplementable solutions that attempt to bypass this resilient people's right to freedom and independence.

This commemoration of the bilateral relations between the two countries within the Mexican Senate serves to reaffirm the strength of their ties and to renew the solidarity of the Mexican people’s representatives in complementing the efforts of solidarity and support by the Mexican state as a whole.
