Windhoek (Namibia), June 20, 2024 (SPS) - The new Namibian President, Mr. Nangolo Mbumba, renewed his country's position in support of the Sahrawi people's just struggle for freedom, independence and self-determination.

The Namibian President explained, during receiving the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic accredited to Namibia, Mr. Hamdi Khalil Meyara, that Namibia is determined to maintain its position on the Sahrawi issue until the completion of the decolonization of Western Sahara, which is considered the last colony on the African continent.

The two parties confirmed today, Thursday, the excellent condition of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to develop them, in light of the convergence of views and positions on many continental and international issues.

The Sahrawi ambassador informed his host of the current developments in the Sahrawi issue at the regional and international levels, pointing to the latest developments in the field situation in Western Sahara and the resumption of the war after Morocco violated the ceasefire between the two parties to the conflict, the Polisario Front and Morocco, on November 13, 2020.

Speaking about the humanitarian situation, the Sahrawi ambassador referred to the continued deterioration of the human rights situation in the occupied territories of the Sahrawi Republic and the occupation state's continued illegal plunder of the wealth and resources of the Sahrawi people.
