Dublin (Ireland), February 15, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, was received by his Irish counterpart, Mr. Michael Daniel Higgins, at the Presidential Palace.

During the meeting, which comes within the framework of a visit that leads President Brahim Ghali to Ireland, developments in the Sahrawi issue were discussed, as well as prospects for future work, especially in the field of solidarity in Ireland, Europe and the rest of the world.

The meeting, which expanded to include the delegations of the two countries, also discussed the positions of the Polisario Front regarding the events taking place in the world and the Sahrawi issue in light of the reality of war.

In this context, President Michael Daniel Higgins renewed his country's position in support of the Sahrawi people's right to freedom, self-determination and independence, in line with respect for international law, international humanitarian law, and the relevant United Nations Charter and resolutions in Western Sahara.

The President of the Republic is accompanied on this visit, which is scheduled to continue on Thursday, by a delegation that includes members of the National Secretariat, Minister Advisor to the Presidency in charge of Diplomatic Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Ambassador-designate for Europe and European institutions, Mr. Omar Mansour, Representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, Advisor to the Presidency, Mr. Abdati Breika, Director of Protocol in the Presidency, Mr. Salha Al-Abd, and Representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland, Mr. Nafi Al-Rayes.
