The Polisario Front will not engage in any approach that does not respect the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence

Shahid Al-Hafed, January 9, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, confirmed that the Polisario Front will not engage in any approach that does not respect the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.

President Brahim Ghali, stressed in his speech during his supervision of the closing of the Annual Foreign Relations Conference that the Polisario Front, the sole legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people, cannot engage in any approach that does not strictly respect the inalienable, non-negotiable and imprescriptible right of our people to self-determination and independence.

He also reiterated that the Sahrawi people are fully committed to that sacred right and are ready to defend it by all legitimate means guaranteed by international legitimacy, including armed struggle.

In the same context, the President of the Republic called on the United Nations to protect defenseless Sahrawi civilians in an area of international conflict under its responsibility and in which it is represented by its mission "MINURSO," expressing his strong condemnation of the grave violations committed by the Moroccan occupation state against the Sahrawi people in the occupied territories and southern Morocco, under oppression, siege and restrictions.

President Ghali called for the urgent release of all Sahrawi civilian prisoners in Moroccan prisons and the immediate cessation of the Moroccan plunder of Sahrawi natural resources, reiterating his demand that the European Union adhere to international law, international humanitarian law, and European law and thus refrain from signing any agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco that affects the lands, airspace, or territorial waters of Western Sahara.
