Shahid Al-Hafed, January 4, 2024 (SPS) - Algeria and Sierra Leone renewed their support for a just political solution that guarantees the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

In a joint statement following the visit of the President of Sierra Leone to Algeria, the two heads of state stressed the need for the parties to the conflict to resume negotiations under the supervision of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in order to reach a just and lasting political solution that leads to self-determination for the people of Western Sahara, in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Security Council and the objectives and principles contained in the Charter of the United Nations and the Constitutive Charter of the African Union.

They also affirmed their support for the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy aimed at reaching a just and lasting political settlement to the conflict.

SPS
