Abdelmadjid Tebboune reiterates Algeria’s firm position on the Sahrawi issue

Algeria, December 26, 2023 (SPS) - The President of the Algerian Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed that his country will continue to defend the principles and values of the November Revolution, reiterating Algeria’s firm position on the Sahrawi issue.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said in a speech he delivered on Monday before the Algerian Parliament, “We will fiercely defend the principles of our revolution and the values of humanity, and we will not abandon weak countries. The issue of Western Sahara is an issue of decolonization, and our position is not hatred for our Moroccan brothers", adding that "the Western Sahara issue is a file on the table of the decolonization committee in the United Nations".

Tebboune added that Algeria will play its role in the Security Council for the benefit of the brothers and for the benefit of the Arab nation, pointing out that there is almost consensus on Algeria assuming a non-permanent position in the Security Council.
