Luanda (Angola), November 2, 2023 (SPS) - The Republic of Angola expressed its support for the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Republic over its entire national territory in a press statement issued yesterday by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tete António, received Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Al-Salek, Minister Counsellor in Charge of Diplomatic Affairs and Special Envoy of the President of the Republic, Mr. Brahim Ghali.
During the meeting, Mr. Tete António renewed Angola's support for the Sahrawi issue and its affirmation of the sovereignty of the Sahrawi people at the continental level and on the international scene, stressing the continuation of permanent political dialogue between officials of the two countries to achieve the goals and aspirations of the two peoples.
The meeting also discussed the issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda that concern Angola and the Sahrawi Republic.
For his part, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek thanked Minister Tete António for his warm reception, which provided the opportunity to review issues of great interest to the Sahrawi Republic as well as the permanent and firm position of Angola in supporting the struggle for self-determination and independence of the Sahrawi people.
The meeting was attended by a number of directors and advisors from the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to the ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic accredited to Angola and Namibia, Mr. Hamdi Khalil Mayara.
The Republic of Angola and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic have excellent political and diplomatic relations and share common ideals, both bilaterally and at the African Union level.
