Boujdour (Refugee Camps), 28 October 2023 (SPS) - The 16th edition of the ARTIFARITI cultural event, focusing on art and human rights, was inaugurated today, Saturday, in the wilaya of Boujdour, Sahrawi refugee camps, with the participation of artists and creators from different continents.
The opening ceremony of the event, held under the slogan "We Have Become Closer," was attended by the Prime Minister, member of the National Secretariat, Bushraya Hamoudi Beyoun, and the Minister of Culture, Musa Salma, as well as members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the SADR government, as well as officials from the Sahrawi Ministry of Culture.
In his opening speech, Minister of Culture Musa Salma welcomed the delegations from various countries around the world who are taking part in the event. He expressed gratitude to the Sahrawi authorities for providing all the necessary conditions and resources, especially in the wilaya of Boujdour, which has consistently hosted cultural activities in solidarity with the Sahrawi people.
Minister Salma praised the "great solidarity" demonstrated by the participating delegations in the cultural event, as well as numerous Spanish associations, including the Seville Association, which accompanied the organization of the event, as well as individuals, including artists, politicians, and volunteers who support just causes.
Musa Salma highly valued this event, especially considering the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He considered it a window into Sahrawi culture, which has become an important element in the battles of liberation and construction.
The Prime Minister toured various workshops hosted by the wilaya of Boujdour's School of Music and Arts, receiving detailed explanations from the supervisors of the workshops, which embody different aspects of the Sahrawi people's struggle.
The ARTIFARITI event is an international forum for arts and human rights, bringing together Sahrawi artists with their counterparts from different countries in defense of the Sahrawi cause.
