Gdeim Izik prisoners in Moroccan jails on hunger strike

Occupied El Aaiun, 27 October 2023 (SPS) - The civilian Saharawi prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group, incarcerated in different Moroccan jails, continue their hunger strike in solidarity with Sahrawi civilian prisoner Hassan Mohamed Radi Dah, who is on open hunger strike.

Citing the League for the Protection of Saharawi Prisoners in Moroccan Jails, the 48-hour strike started Thursday by the Sahrawi civilian inmates in solidarity with their co-prisoner, Radi Dah, was meant to denounce the mistreatment of the prisoners, the targeting inside of the central jail of Kenitra, and the racial discrimination policy by the general delegation of the prison administration.

For the league, those practices are intended for erasing the Sahrawi identity and the political nature behind the arbitrary arrest and imprisonment of those Sahrawis, in order to shirk their legal and moral responsibilities.
