New York, October 4, 2023 (SPS)- Mexico called for respecting the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and supporting efforts aimed at reaching a just and lasting solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, in accordance with the relevant General Assembly and Security Council resolutions.
Mexico called before the Fourth Committee to support the efforts made by the Secretary-General and his personal envoy to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict in Western Sahara.
It also stressed the importance of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in achieving its mission of organizing the referendum, calling for strengthening human rights monitoring in Western Sahara.
