Bir Lehlou (Saharawi Republic) 26 October 2019 (SPS)- The President of the Saharawi Republic, Brahim Ghali, congratulated Botswana President, Mokgweetsi Masis, on the sound win of the General Elections that took place in Botswana on 23rd October.
In a letter he addressed to President Masisi, Brahim Ghali expressed delight “about the successful organization and conclusion of the General Elections in Botswana, in calm, transparent and orderly manner as reported by the majority of international observers.”
He congratulated Dr. Masisi “for this new victory realized by Botswana under your leadership, and we congratulate you in person for the victory of your party, the Botswana Democratic Party, which once again demonstrated that it still animates and inspires Batswana people with its vision and political programme,” the letter stresses.
The Saharawi Republic, the Saharawi President indicates, “participated, through its Embassy in Gaborone, with other African Missions in the observation of these elections as a Diplomatic Watch Mission, and also as a member of the AU Election Observation Mission, and positively reported about the successful, calm and free elections it was able to observe in total freedom and transparency.”
He estimated that “African nations can learn a lot from the democratic experience in Botswana, and should learn from it. And in the other hand, Botswana should also reach out to its sisterly African nations to share its experience and best practices with a view to contribute, as it certainly can, to the development of democracy, good governance and political participation in Africa as a whole.”
He finally expressed to President Masisi his “most sincere congratulations on the sounding victory you personally realized along with your party and all Batswana people in these elections.”
Botswana Democratic Party was declared this Friday winner of the General elections that took place in Botswana on the 23rd of October.
Various Batswana parties participated in these elections that were considered free, fair and democratic by international observers, including the AU and SADC observers missions. (SPS)
