Oran, May 2, 2016 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar expressed Sunday, in Oran, his country’s hope for a return of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to Western Sahara with a specific agenda to organize a referendum on self-determination.
In a press conference following the celebration of Labour Day, whose official festivities took place in Oran port under the slogan “Total solidarity with Sahrawi people,”  Abdelkader Taleb Omar said “we are expecting that the decision of the United Nations Security Council concerning the return of the MINURSO to the Sahrawi territories will have a positive effect, but we hope that this return will be accompanied by measures and specific agenda to organize a referendum on self-determination and end the occupation.”
The Sahrawi official said that the MINURSO was particularly created to organize a self-determination referendum as a right of the Sahrawi people, while underlining that this mission is a “real challenge and test for the United Nations.”
The Sahrawi Prime Minister hoped that UN Security Council will manage to impose this fact and exert pressure on Morocco to return to the international legitimacy, while pointing out that this is complementary to the efforts aimed at establishing peace and security in the region and the world.
The Sahrawi official also warned against the persistence of the crisis in Western Sahara in view of the Moroccan stubbornness to comply with the international legitimacy. (SPS)
