Berlin (Germany), 30 April 2020 (SPS) -  The Polisario Front has warned German company Continental of the consequences of involvement in violating international law in Western Sahara, after receiving information stating that the company intends to renew a contract with the so-called Morocco's Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP), which has a branch in the occupied territories of Western Sahara that has been working for years to illegally exploit phosphates in violation of the relevant  provisions of international law related to the Non-Self-Governing Territories under foreign military occupation.
In a letter addressed by member of the National Secretariat, Representative of the Polisario Front in Europe and the European Union, Mr. Ubbi Bushraya Bashir, pointed out “rejection of the Polisario Front of the entry of the company to the borders of Western Sahara without its permission, and the need to abide by the rules of international law that classify Western Sahara as a territory that is not under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco in any way, the military power occupying the Territory since 1975”.
“the Polisario Front will take all possible legal actions to guarantee the fundamental rights of the Sahrawi people and protect their natural resources, and consequently all foreign companies intending to engage in activities in Western Sahara are obligated to communicate with the Polisario Front as it is the only body that has the legal mandate to represent and negotiate according to international law,” he added.
