Algiers, 24 November 2020 (SPS) - The Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN) deplored Morocco’s recent gross violation of the ceasefire in Gergerat zone in Western Sahara, expressing concern over the situation in the occupied part of the Saharawi Republic.
In a conference of solidarity with the Saharawi people, FLN Secretary General, Mr. Abou El Fadl Baadji, stated that Western Sahara issue “is a matter of decolonization and a sacred and untouchable issue for Algeria”, adding that FLN militants cannot “stand idly by” before such an unjust aggression.
Speaking in the same event, SADR Ambassador in Algiers Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar hailed such wave of solidarity with the Saharawi cause, reassuring the audience that the Saharawi people will not stop the fight until freedom and independence are achieved.
Saharawi Diplomat underlined that the hopes placed on the UN and MINURSO are faded away, adding that the Saharawi people is forced to take arms again, before such inaction from the UN.
On November 13th, the Moroccan Kingdom violated the ceasefire agreed upon with the Polisario Front under UN umbrella in 1991, by forcefully attacking a group of Saharawi civilians, who were protesting the existence of the illegally-built Moroccan breach in Gergerat.
As a response, the Polisario Front decided to end its engagement into this agreement, and thus declared the resumption of armed struggle for independence. (SPS)
