Addis Ababa, August 25, 2016 (SPS) - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma reaffirmed Tuesday that she will keep faith in resolving the Sahrawi issue while respecting the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and that she will continue supporting the legitimate struggle for the decolonization of Western Sahara.
Sahrawi Deputy Minister for African Affairs Hamdi Khalil Mayara was received, at the African Union’s headquarters in Addis Ababa by Dlamini-Zuma, to whom he handed over a message from Sahrawi President Brahim Gali. Dlamini-Zuma underlined that she will continue supporting the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people for the self-determination and decolonization of Western Sahara.
The Sahrawi official welcomed the positions of the Africa Union concerning the decolonization of Western Sahara and those displayed recently following Morocco’s attempts to divide the pan-African organization on the continent’s issues.
Mayara said that Morocco’s excuses to leave AU have been the same since 1984, adding that the real motives of this withdrawal are related to the positions of the continental organization in favour of the settlement of the Sahrawi issue.SPS
