Geneva (Switzerland), Sept 21, 2016 (SPS) -Two international organizations, IFOR and ISMUN, asked yesterday the United Nations to observe the situation of the Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons, during their speeches at the 33rd Session UN Human Rights Council, which currently take place in Geneva, Switzerland.
In this context, the International Movement of Reconciliation (IFOR) expressed in its statement to the Council, "deep concern over the situation of Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik Group, noting that all members of this group are human rights activists and members of the dialogue committee appointed by the displaced Gedim Izik camp ".
For its part, the International Movement of Youth and Students for the United Nations (ISMUN) "recalled the visit conducted by the Secretary General of UN, Ban Ki Moon, to the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated territories, calling for the respect and protection of human rights and the organization of a referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people enable them to decide freely their future."
