Sahrawis in Belgium celebrate 44th anniversary of Polisario Front creation

Antwerp (Belgium), May 15, 2017 (SPS) - The Sahrawi community in Belgium celebrated Sunday, in Antwerp (Belgium), in Northern Belgium, the 44th anniversary of the creation of the Polisario Front, on 10 May 1973, and the triggering of the armed fight for the liberation of Western Sahara, ten days later.
In a meeting organized at the Geel cultural centre in Antwerp, the representative of the Polisario Front in Belgium Jamal Zakari reiterated the determination of the Sahrawi people to continue their long fight to achieve their goal: that of “returning to the completely freed territories of Western Sahara.”
“We renew, today, our commitment to continue the fight on all fronts to gather the people of Western Sahara on their land,” he said in this ceremony, reiterating the aspiration of its people to live in peace.
The president of the organization of the Sahrawi community in Belgium Mohamed Hossein Mohamed Fadel called for the continuation of the fight for the recognition of the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination, expressing his wish to see the international community support the Sahrawi cause.
The president of the International Conference for Support and Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) Pierre Galand hailed the progress made by the Sahrawi people in their fight to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination. (SPS)
