Managua (Nicaragua) May 14, 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi ambassador to Nicaragua, Sulaiman Al-Tayeb, said in a statement to Cuban News Agency, Prensa Latina, that Morocco continues to impede negotiations with the Polisario Front in order to find a just solution that ensures the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
The Sahrawi diplomat indicated that following its crisis with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Morocco expelled the civil contingence of the United Nations Mission in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
He underlined that the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination must be respected, recalling that the main mission of the MINURSO is the organization of the self-determination referendum in Western Sahara.
He called for the respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Western Sahara.
Finally, he called on Morocco to stop hindering the effort of the international community and allow the organization of the referendum to enable the Sahrawi people to decide their own future. (SPS)
