Chahid El Hafed (Camps of Dignity), May 28, 2019 (SPS) - The Frente POLISARIO has reiterated on Monday that the only viable, lasting and realistic solution is that which respects the will and the choice of the Saharawi people, as all colonial peoples, in accordance with the Charter and the resolutions of the United Nations and the African Union.
The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat, meeting in regular session under its Secretary General, Brahim Gali, examined the current situation and the developments of the national cause, in particular the resignation of Mr. Horst Koehler as Personal Envoy of the UN SG for Western Sahara .
In that sense, after regretting the resignation of the UN envoy, considering his resignation as a great loss to the dynamics of the efforts of the United Nations to reach a quick and lasting solution to the Moroccan-Sahrawi conflict.
For the Frente POLISARIO this resignation underscores the need for the Security Council to act and assume its responsibilities to put an end to the policies of obstruction, obstinacy and recklessness of the Moroccan occupier, with the flagrant support of France, a permanent member of the Security Council.
It demands that the Security Council act in a decisive manner so that MINURSO can assume its supreme task for which it was created, that of organizing a referendum on the self-determination of the Saharawi people.
The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Frente POLISARIO, in its communiqué released after its meeting on Monday, reiterated that the Saharawi people will continue resisting and will stand firm against the policies and maneuvers of the enemy.SPS
