Bir-Lehlou (Liberated Zones), October 17, 2016 (SPS) The management of International Film Festival in Western Sahara (Fisahara) organized Sunday a sit-in in front of the Moroccan wall of shame that divides Western Sahara and separates its people.
During the sit-in, held just meters from the Moroccan minefields harvested annually tens of Sahrawi citizens, participants expressed their support for the Sahrawi people and to convey their suffering parts of the world.
In this context, the festival director, Maria Carrion, considered that this visit is an opportunity to let the guests know about the suffering of the Saharawi people forgotten for four decades, and that the mine wall is a living testimony to this tragedy.
International actor Ivan Prado considered the sit-in as a challenge to the Moroccan occupation and condemnation of the separation wall.
The wall of shame, constructed by Morocco in 1982, is one of the longest separation walls in the world, which runs along 2700 km and it has the largest minefield of more than 8 million mines planted randomly. (SPS)
