Moroccan occupation forces subject Sahrawi civilian to torture in occupied city of Boujdour

Occupied Boujdour, February 01, 2023 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation forces subjected the Sahrawi citizen, Sidi Brahim Lahsini, to torture, after he protested on January 30, 2023, in front of a vehicle belonging to the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), in Al-Amal 02 neighborhood in the occupied city of Boujdour.
The Executive Office of the Association of the Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara highlighted that the Sahrawi civilian Sidi Brahim Lahsini, was trying to protest against the continuation of the Moroccan occupation of parts of Western Sahara territories when he subjected to torture by the Moroccan forces and got serious injuries.
The Sahrawi citizen Sidi Brahim Lahsini was subjected to physical torture by the Moroccan occupation forces in the occupied city of Boujdour, because of his participation in the peaceful protests demanding the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence and in solidarity with the victims of crimes against humanity committed against Sahrawi civilians in the occupied cities of Western Sahara.
In this context, the executive office of the Association of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara denounced these crimes against humanity committed by the Moroccan occupation forces, and expressed its absolute solidarity with the Sahrawi victim Sidi Brahim Lahsini and with all the Sahrawi victims, who suffer from the effects of physical and psychological torture.
The executive office called on the MINURSO to assume its responsibilities in conducting an urgent investigation into the physical torture of the Sahrawi civilian Sidi Brahim Lahsini, and to hold full responsibility for the Moroccan occupation forces and the MINURSO mission in this case.
