Wilaya of Awserd (Refugee Camps), May 21, 2017 (SPS) –President of Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, has stressed that it is high time for the international community to put an end to the tragedy of the Saharawi people, end four decades of Moroccan intransigence and speed up the organization of a self-determination referendum in Western Sahara.
In his address in commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the outbreak of the armed struggle, President Ghali renewed his call on the United Nations to shoulder its full responsibility in completing the decolonization of Western Sahara, the last African colony.
The President of the Republic reiterated the readiness of the Polisario Front to cooperate fully with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy in order to expedite the completion of the MINURSO mission, the implementation of the requirements of international legitimacy and the recent Security Council resolution, particularly with regard to the resumption of negotiations and the resolution of all outstanding issues resulting from the blatant breach of the cease-fire and military agreement no. 1 in the region of El-Guergarat.
