Washingtonm, July 14, 2016 (SPS) - The first staff of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) expelled by Morocco is to return to the occupied Sahrawi territories on Wednesday or Thursday, UN source told APS on Wednesday.
The first group consists of 16 employees of MINURSO who are currently in Las Palmas and are expected to return on Wednesday or on Thursday to the occupied Sahrawi territories to resume their mission.
A second group of nine people who are currently in their countries of origin will also return to Western Sahara.
The same source stressed that the return of MINURSO other employees will be gradual until the reconstitution of MINURSO staff as they were in early March, when Morocco took retaliatory measures against this mission.
The newly-elected President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali pointed out in his speech to the participants of the Extraordinary Congress of the Front as "the MINURSO should be able to assume its primary mission for which it was set up in 1991, namely the organization of a referendum in Western Sahara ", regretting that this mission becomes a guardian of Moroccan colonial fait accompli and ceasefire."SPS
