Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country), Nov 20, 2019 (SPS) - With the participation of international delegations and a high-level delegation from the Government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, headed by Prime Minister Mohamed Luali Akeik, Vitoria-Gasteiz will host the 44th European Conference of Support and Solidarity with the Saharawi People (Eucoco) the next days 22 and 23.
The traditional event convened by the solidarity movement with the Saharawi people calls representatives of associations, political organizations, trade unions, and solidarity committees from around the world and deputies from different political forces around the world who meet to articulate new strategies of work and pressure to accompany the Saharawi people in their struggle for self-determination and independence.
On the Saharawi side, the Prime Minister attends the said conference accompanied by the president of the Saharawi National Council (Parliament), Jatri Aduh, and a large delegation composed of ministers and representatives of different national institutons, members of mass organizations, deputies and human rights activists from the occupied areas of Western Sahara.
Sources of the organizing committee have stressed that this event will aim to “articulate an international political campaign that seeks the explicit recognition by the Spanish Government of its responsibility in the conflict so that international legality is applied and that forces the European Union to act in consequence".
