Shahed Al-Hafed, 22 July 2019 (SPS) – Sahrawi organizations and the Sahrawi National Human Rights Commission (CONASADH) have condemned Morocco's despicable acts and repression against Sahrawis in the occupied cities, while they were peacefully celebrating the victory of the Algerian football team in the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
On Saturday, the CONASADH expressed concerns over the serious deterioration of human rights in the occupied territories, and strongly condemned the despicable crime perpetrated by Morocco's occupation authorities, along with the series of extrajudicial executions against Sahrawi people.
A young Sahrawi woman, Sabah Osman Hameida, was killed and several others were injured by Moroccan forces in the occupied city of Al Aaiun, while they were celebrating the victory of the Algerian football team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
"It's time for the United Nations Security Council to put an end to the escalating repression and crimes by enforcing international resolutions," said the CONASADH.
For its part, the Sahrawi Youth Union (UJSARIO) condemned the violence and forced detention against many Sahrawi young people during peaceful protests, with the use of plastic bullets.
The Union also offered condolences to Sabah's family and to all Sahrawi people.
The National Union of Sahrawi Women (UNMS) urged human rights organizations to dispatch an independent international mission to investigate into the death of the young Sahrawi woman and called on the international community to put an end to the conflict between the Polisario Front and Morocco.
The Union of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) of occupied Al-Aaiun condemned the despicable acts by Moroccan police on Friday.
In a statement, CODESA extended its condolences to Sabah's family and called for a fair investigation into the death of the young woman. (SPS)
