Copenhagen, Sept 28, 2017 (SPS) - “The Sahrawi people are awaiting” is the theme of a photo exhibition held in Copenhagen (Denmark) on the situation of the Sahrawi people in refugee camps and their political activism for self-determination and independence for more than four decades.
Inaugurated Monday, the exhibition is organized by the Danish association for African solidarity “Afrika kontakt”, in collaboration with the Cultural Centre Verdenskulturcentret, said the Frente POLISARIO representation in Copenhagen.
The photos on display focus on the situation of Sahrawi families and young activists, and illustrate how hard their life is due to years of exile imposed by the Moroccan military occupation.
Young photographer Katinka Albrektsen visited the Sahrawi refugee camps in last April and met with a group of young activists. Through this exhibition, she tries to relate their history and that of their families using her camera. SPS
