Boujdour (Occupied Territories) July 29, 2011 (SPS) - A brutal intervention of the Moroccan army forces against Sahrawi citizens in the occupied city of Boujdour (the third town in Western Sahara) resulted in casualties among them, after they went out in a peaceful march to protest the looting and attrition of the natural resources of Western Sahara, according to sources of the Ministry for the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

The intervention of the Royal Moroccan Army came to support the police forces in the occupied city which, like all Sahrawi cities, witnesses since more than two weeks social unrest to protest against exclusion and deprivation, exercised by the occupation authorities against all categories of the Saharawi people, which decided to take the lead in defending its right to benefit from the wealth and potential of its country.

The five coordinating committees of the unemployed Sahrawis in the city decided to enter into undefined sit-in inside tents starting Friday night under the banner “we who deserve our wealth” to escalate fight against the occupation which dispatched a large troop of Moroccan forces to repress them rather than respond to their demands.
