Algeria has deplored on Wednesday the violent acts in Syria and called on Syrian parties for making proof of wisdom and launch inclusive national dialogue.

A press release issued by spokesman of Foreign Ministry, Amar Belani, reads that “Today, we can only deplore the violent acts and urging the Syrian parties to take the track of wisdom and inclusive national dialogue in order to overcome the crisis, and head up towards the implementation of the political reforms announced by the Syrian authorities and ultimately safeguarding the security and the stability of this brotherly country, which plays a key role in the region.”

The official further reaffirmed that “The government of Algeria recognizes states rather than regimes,” and that “Algeria avoids interfering in internal affairs of nations, and tends, constantly, reaffirming her respect to the full sovereignty and unity of Arab countries, as well as respect to legitimate aspirations of the people to freedom, democracy and development.”

“Algeria suggests taking in charge and respond to these aspirations via peaceful means in the frame of national and responsible dialogue, in order to avoid risks of violence and bloodshed,” he said.

Mr Belani concluded that “On 21 June, during a press briefing in Luxembourg, at the end of the 6th session of the Algeria-EU partnership council, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mourad Medelci has expressed concerns of Algeria over the situation in the brotherly Syria, and stressed that what happening there is unacceptable.”
