El Aaiun (occupied territories), Dec 11, 2011 (SPS) - The Collective of the Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) confirmed that Morocco is still committing humanitarian crimes in Western Sahara, in a statement issued on the occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of Human Rights Day.
The Collective expressed solidarity with all world state, organizations and human rights, humanitarian, trade unions and press associations that defend human rights and victims of gross violations across the world.
The Association denounced the Moroccan state continuation to wage campaigns of random arrest against Saharawi civilians and human rights defenders and fabricate charges against them to judicially follow them up in Moroccan military and civil courts.
It valued steadfastness of the Saharawi Martyr Said Danbar’s family and its call on the Moroccan state to launch an immediate investigation on the circumstances behind his assassination and to hold those accountable for the incident.
CODESA urged Morocco to respect human rights and speedily unveil the fate of the Saharawi abducted and disappeared as to release all the Saharawi political prisoners, calling for further solidarity with the Saharawi political detainees and their families.
It finally appealed to the international human rights organizations and associations to pressurize Morocco in order to respect human rights in Western Sahara, to find a UN mechanism to monitor and report on human rights in the Territory and to guarantee the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.
