Madrid, Jan 21, 2012 (SPS) - The twelfth edition of Sahara Marathon has been presented Friday in Madrid, Spain, in the presence of Mr. Diego Muñoz, director of the Marathon, representatives of solidarity movement with the Saharawi people in Spain and Polisario Representative in Spain, Mr. Buchraya Bayun.
The event will be held on February 27 to March 2, 2012 in the Saharawi refugee camps on the sidelines of the commemoration of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in 1976.
The Saharawi Representative to Spain expressed the thanks and gratitude of the Saharawi people to the participating bodies, valuing the continuation of the solidarity Marathon with the Saharawi cause, which has accompanied the celebrations of SADR’s proclamation since 12 years without stop.
From his part, director of the Marathon re-affirmed that members of the organizing body will accompany the Saharawi people until achieving their rights of self-determination and independence.
The Sahara Marathon is an international sport event to demonstrate solidarity with the Saharawi people and this year celebrates its twelfth edition on February 27, 2012.
It is organized by the Spanish Secretary of State for Sport and the Government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic with the help of volunteers from all over the world. (SPS)
