Security Council should assume its responsibilities to complete decolonization process of Western Sahara, says Khatri Aduh

Manhasset (New York), March 14 2012 (SPS) – Head of the Saharawi negotiated delegation to Menhast, Mr. Khatri Aduh, asserted on Tuesday that UN Security Council should assume  its full responsibilities to allow completion of the decolonization process of Western Sahara".

 

"Consultation of the Saharawi people is becoming inevitable in order to reach fair, credible and lasting settlement of the decolonization of Western Sahara," the Speaker of National council declared following the end of 09th informal talks between Polisario Front and Morocco took place at Greentree Estate, Manhasset .

 


"The Saharawi authorities consider unacceptable that Morocco continues its policy of procrastination, maneuvering and ignoring the implementation of a just and lasting peace that ensures the Saharawi people right to decide their destiny and allows people of Maghreb to build a democratic, prosperous and stable bloc " he said .

 


"it is the time that the Security Council fulfills its full responsibilities to allow completion of the decolonization process of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa," Khatri Aduh added.

 


The Saharawi official said "the situation of human rights in Western Sahara and free access to the territory for NGOs, the press and international observers have been raised by the Polisario Front delegation" during the meeting.

 


The Saharwi delegation has called for "the end to repression against Saharawi defenseless citizens and release of all political prisoners in Moroccan jails," underlying that "the UN silence before the abuses committed by the Moroccan occupying forces in Western Sahara is unacceptable. " (SPS)
