Shaheed Al hafed (refugee camps), March 25, 2012 (SPS) - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mohamed Moulud Mohamed Fadel, revealed Sunday the establishment of a Saharawi national football team as a self-initiative by the team players and in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sport, in order to take part in the international sport demonstrations.

The Minister highlighted, during the delivery of equipments for sports departments in the Wilayas and institutions of Saharawi Republic, “the reason behind its absence of the African football competitions is due to its non-membership in the Confederation of African Football.”

The Minister indicated in the same regard that there are efforts made at the Social Affairs Commission of the African Union, where the Saharawi Republic has a full membership like the rest of AU organs.

On other hand, he described the Saharawi participation in 2012 Sahara Marathon, held last February, as “the distinct” especially in middle and short running distances for women.

The sport equipments being distributed include shoes, clothes as well as foot and handballs. They are a gift of a foreign cooperator attended the 2012 Sahara Marathon. (SPS)
