Parliament of Navarre reaffirms its support to Saharawi people's right to self-determination

Navarra (Spain) May2, 2012(SPS). - The Parliament of Navarra Wednesday, unanimously adopted recommendation, reaffirming the various declarations that lead to the legitimate right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

The statement reaffirms the responsibility of the Government of Spain as colonial power in Western Sahara, to lead within the international community work aimed at organization of self-determination referendum in Western Sahara.
 

 The motion recognizes the Polisario Front as the "sole legitimate representative of the Saharawi people" and requests the Government of Spain to give its representatives the same diplomatic status enjoyed by the Palestinian diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Spain.
 

 Parliament demands the immediate release of all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails
 

 It also urges the United Nations to expedite a fair and lasting solution to the conflict in Western Sahara, "which guaranties   the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination."

The Board of Spokesmen further urges all Spanish institutions to continue supporting the refugees in the Tindouf camps and sympathizes with the three aid workers kidnapped in the camps, as well as their families and friends, and requires prompt release of Enric Gonyalons, Ainhoa Fernández de Rincón and  Rosella Urru.
 

  In that sense, it recognizes the work done by various governments and agencies and special solidarity by the Polisario Front, which "has not stopped working one day to liberate these donors."
 

 It also establishes a priority for action in 2012 intergroup support for the Saharawi population in the occupied territories through observation missions.
 

 The Parliament of Navarre invites media to treat the Sahara conflict "with the same importance and relevance that gives by the Spanish society" and encourages people in solidarity with the Saharawi cause to through social networks to disseminate and denounce the situation in the occupied Western Sahara.
 

The recommendation will   deliver to the Security Council of United Nations, the Government of Spain, the European Commission .the representation of  the Polisario Front in Spain and the Government of Morocco. (SPS)
