Saharawi participation at dOCUMENTA art fair in Kassel(Germany)

Kassel(Germany), July 25, 2012 (SPS) - Over the last two weeks, several media and cultural activities have been organized within the framework of Sharawi participation at dOCUMENTA ,one of  world's biggest contemporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art in Kassel, central Germany, according to statement of Polisaeio representation in Berlin.

 

The Polisario Front representative along with professors and artists presented several media evenings dealt with different sides of the Saharawi cause, said the source.

 

The American artist Robyn Kahen brought with her to Kassel a Saharawi tent consists of national flags and banners shedding light on history of Saharawi people and its suffering in refugee camps and occupied territories, the same source added.

 

On 09 July, The German President has opened thirteenth edition of one of the world's biggest and most ambitious contemporary art in Kassel in the presence of Minister of Culture, Khadija Hamdi.

 

Held every five years since 1955, the fair exhibits works by artists over a period of 100 days. This year's event features works by nearly 300 artists from 56 countries. Exhibits include cottages brimming with strange objects, sounds of the Brazilian jungle and a West African theatrical performance.
