President of Republic oversees investiture of Supreme Judicial Council

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugeecamps), July 29, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the POLISARIO Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, oversaw Saturday the investiture of the Supreme Judicial Council, in the presence members of the National Secretariat, government and judiciary.


In his speech on the occasion, President of Republic emphasized that improving the noble tasks of the Institution “depends on the cooperation and collective integration.”


The President of the Republic, also Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, underlined that the hard work and struggle in the construction of the national project, which is to build Saharawi state, comes “to enforce institutions of the state pending the completion of national sovereignty.”


Minister of Justice and Religious Affairs, Mr. Abbah Abih Sheikh, highlighted that the process comes within the fulfillment of the decisions of the POLISARIO 13th Congress, which provides to strengthen this institution after the Congress authorized presidency of the Council to the President of the Republic.


Chairman of the Supreme Court and Member of Supreme Judicial Council, Mohamed Mbarek Mohamed Ahmed, said “the Council will add a lot to the judiciary.”


President of the Court of Appeal, Sid Al-Khalil Lehbib, considered the feeling of the sizeable responsibility placed on members of this Council “the aim and purpose through enhancing the functions of this organ.”

The Supreme Judicial Council consists of the President of the Republic as a head, as well as two judges appointed by President of the Republic, two elected by the National Council and other three elected by the General Assembly of Judges, according to requirements of the Constitution adopted by the 13th Congress of the Polisario Front.


It is the highest body in the judicial authority; it proposes judges to the President of Republic for appointment defends them. (SPS)
