Algiers, Jan 11, 2012 (SPS) - Algeria and Spain have reaffirmed support to “a solution which enshrines the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination under the charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations.”
In a joint statement at the end of the 5th session of the Algerian-Spanish high level meeting held in Algiers, the two countries reaffirm their support to the UN efforts for “a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution which enshrines the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people under the Charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations.”
They, therefore, reiterated their strong support to the efforts of the Personal Representative of the Secretary General of the UN for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, and reaffirm their commitment to contribute to the work of the Secretary General of the UN, his Special Envoy and the MINURSO.
