Tifariti (liberated territories), May 20, 2013 (SPS) - Ambassador of Venezuela to the SADR Mr. Michel Mujica confirmed today morning, Monday, in the liberated town of Tifariti that the celebration of the anniversary of the outbreak of Saharawi armed struggle has more than significance, both at regional and international level.
In statements on the sidelines of the 40th anniversary of the outbreak of armed struggle in Western Sahara, Mr. Mujica said that his participation in this event, being celebrated in the Saharawi liberated territories, “an opportunity to closely see the reality of Sahrawi citizens as well as their persistence and mobilization around the Polisario Front, the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people.”
The Ambassador reiterated his country’s “unconditional solidarity” with Western Sahara, noting that Saharawi people’s struggle, waged for nearly four decades, will not go in vain and that these heavy sacrifices will enable him to achieve full independence.
Mr. Mujica recalled that his country and the other independent states that renounce colonialism “feel that their sovereignty is incomplete as long as the Sahrawi people languishes under the yoke of occupation,” praising the excellent relations between his country and the State of Western Sahara.
“My country’s participation at these celebrations in the liberated town of Tifariti constitutes a real expression of Venezuela’s recognition of the Saharawi state,” he underlined, adding that the state of Western Sahara is considered “strategic partner for African continent.” (SPS)
