London, June 10, 2013 (SPS) - A broad support to Western Sahara people’s cause and right to self-determination was expressed at the 25th World Youth Congress in Manchester, England (June 6-9).

A Saharawi scout delegation took part at this international meeting organized by the International Facon Movement (IFM-SEI).

The congress was an opportunity for young scouts, who came from many countries, to reiterate their support to the Saharawi children and their right to self-determination and independence.

Representing Saharawi Youth Union (UESARIO) on this occasion, Mr. Mahfoud Salama, UESARIO International Secretary, gave a presentation on the history of the colonization in Western Sahara, highlighting the “gross violations” of human rights committed by Morocco against the Saharawis in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

He also asked to put pressure on Morocco to release Gdeim Izik detainees.

In their interventions, a large number of participants in the meeting stressed the importance of cooperation between countries to support the Saharawi cause.

The International Facon Movement (IFM-SEI) is an international educational organization whose goal is to enable children and young people of all countries to play an active role in society and fight for their rights.

It encompasses 60 national and local organizations bringing together children and young people in Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe and Middle East. (SPS)
